The museum will be open to the general public during the tourist season and for special occasions the rest of the year. Lake Chelan is a popular resort destination in central Washington with a robust population increase from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Chelan is also the gateway to North Cascades National Park, a popular destination for citizens from all parts of the country. In the past 20 years Lake Chelan has become a viable destination for visitors partaking of the 40 wineries now in the valley. This has augmented the usual busy summer months expanding the shoulder seasons for visitors from around the Northwest. It is estimated that over 750,000 people visit the lake each year. There is also significant traffic during the fishing and hunting seasons as both Chelan and Okanogan counties are popular destinations.
